The residents of the tribal villages of Sembukkarai and Thoomanur in the Western Ghats in Coimbatore district say they've been receiving freebies as gifts from the AIADMK and DMK for the past 10 years during the election time. Gifts include  Television sets, fans, blenders and table-top grinders, but the irony is there is no electricity in this area to use them. They don't have electricity now and have not had electricity since independence.
