YAGANTI - THE HOME OF A SCIENTIFIC MIRACLE!

Today I’m going to tell you a story about another temple. Every temple has its own specialty. Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple popular for the Nandi that is believed to be growing in size periodically. The temple which is located in the Kurnool District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, approximately 100 km from the city of Kurnool in the Banaganapalle mandal, has gained popularity because of this uniqueness.  It is said that Nandi which is the vehicle for Lord Shiva grew many times in size since its inception in the temple. Earlier people who came to seek blessing of the Lord, first saw Nandi and went around his idol to offer their prayers. As years passed, the space around Nandi decreased as he grew in size. A common man would call this the Lord’s miracle but  Archaeological Survey of India has a different explanation altogether! Archaeological Survey of India explains this in scientific terms. Their research brought out that the Nandi is carved out on a rock with the properties of enlarging over time. They found that   the rock grows at the rate of 1 inch per 20 years (10 mm per 8 years) reducing the space around it each time. Looks like the temple is no more just a place of worship but also a place where you experience science in nature!
