Vishnu Manchu the eldest son of Dr. Mohan Babu, is an actor, producer and CEO of MBC (Mohan Babu Corporation)living and working in Hyderabad, India. His film, Dhee, was the most successful Telugu film of 2007. Vishnu is married to Ms. Viranica Reddy, the niece of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,The actor sponsor’s the ICL Indian Cricket League team, the Hyderabad Heroes.Early life Vishnu was born in Chennai , Tamil Nadu, India. His mother is Sri Nirmala Devi Manchu, and his father is the eminent actor, politician, and educator, Dr.M.Mohan Babu. Vishnu’s first role in front of the camera came at the age of four when he appeared in “Ragile Gundelu  in 1985. The actor says he knew from the start that performing on the silver screen would always be his first love. Vishnu’s older sister, Lakshmi, is an actress in Hollywood, California, and a producer of South Indian films in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. His younger brother, Manoj, is also an actor in both the Telugu and Tamil cinema (Kollywood). After graduating from Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College with his B.Tech in Computer Science and Information Technologies, Vishnu then migrated to Los Angeles, California, where he took several courses in film acting and direction. While there, he studied martial arts Having studied his craft through teachers and under the critical eye of his father, Vishnu broke into the leading man world in the self-titled film, “Vishnu  in 2003, directed by Malayalam Action Film Director, Shaji Kailas. A picture per year has followed and in the year 2007, his film “Dhee  became the highest grossing Telugu film of the year. His current film, “Saleem , shot on locations throughout Europe, India, and Thailand. As of November 8, 2009, the film is in post production and is slated for release in December.Vishnu has produced two films as well; “Yamajaathakudu  in 1999 and “Sri  in 2005. Having an interest in special effects, he also worked as an SPFX supervisor on “Vishnu  and as the SPFX foreman on “Sri .As the CEO of MBC, Vishnu Manchu oversees several child companies: Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, ThinkSmart, and 24 Frames Factory. Vishnu is also the CEO of SVET (Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust), a university chain of five colleges and nearly 10,000 students.As an avid cricket fan, in 2008 Vishnu became the sponsor to the Hyderabad Heroes, an ICL team which is enjoying popularity and success. Along with his father, Vishnu also works closely with the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust to ensure that a full 25% of all students come from economically disadvantaged families and communities. |
