Saggubiyyam Khichdi

 

 

Saggubiyyam or Sabudana is made of tapioca. It is believed that these are loaded with health benefits but if overcooked – they lose all there health nutrients. So how to cook healthy Sabudana Khichdi? Watch our video to know in detail.


Ingredients:

Sabudana or Saggubeeyam

Boiled Potato or Udakabettina Bangaladumpa

Green Chilli or Pachi Mirchi

Salt or Uppu

Ginger or Allam

Curry Leaves or Karuvepaku

Cumin Seeds or Jeera

Peanuts or Versenegalu

Ghee or Neyyi


Method:

Soak a cup of Saggubiyyam in water for about 2 3 hours. Heat pan fry peanuts and let it cool. After it cools down – grind it in mixer coarsely. Heat pan and add 2 spoons of ghee. Add jeera, chopped ginger, green chilli, curry leaves. Saute them for a minute or two and later add the boiled and chopped potatoes and fry well. After the potatoes fry well – add the soaked saggubiyam in the pan. Saute well. Later add the coarsely grinded peanut powder (1 cup saggubiyyam upma needs ½ cup of peanut powder). Finally add salt salt to taste and keep stirring the khichidi. (do not stop stirring the khichidi – since it will turn sticky if you stop stirring) And yummy Saggubiyyam Khichidi Ready to be served hot.
