Hyderabad Fashion Week - 2011

         ఫ్యాషన్ వీక్ అనేది వారం రోజుల పాటు ఫ్యాషన్ డిజైనర్స్ తమ  ప్రతిభను    ప్రదర్శించుకోవడానికి  ఒక  మహత్తరమైన వేదిక .  

           అలాంటి వేదికే హైదరాబాద్ లోని మారియట్ హోటల్ లో జరిగింది. నిదా మహ్మూద్,
  షాయ్నా N.C.,  మీరా , ముజాఫర్ అలీ , సోనియా పున్వాని తదితర డిజైనర్లు తమ ప్రదర్శనతో  అలరించారు . 

                హైదరాబాద్ మహానగరం మరోసారి ఫ్యాషన్ వెలుగుల్లో మునిగి తేలింది . రెండవ  రోజు  షో అనుకున్న సమయానికి కాస్త ఆలస్యంగా మొదలైనందుకు  కాస్తంత  నిరుత్సాహ పడినా , ప్రఖ్యాత డిజైనర్ల ప్రదర్శనలతో వెలుగు నింపుకుంది . వీటికి తోడు  కామ్నా జేఠ్మలాని , సంజన లాంటి ప్రముఖ నటీమణులు ర్యాంప్ పై క్యాట్ వాక్ చేసి ఫ్యాషన్ షో లో కొత్త ఉత్సహాన్ని నింపారు.

                       ఇదిలా ఉంటే నిదా మహ్మూద్ ప్రదర్శించిన డిజైన్లు ఆకర్షణగా నిలిచాయి . హిందీ సినిమాలకు సంబంధించిన కలెక్షన్లు , గబ్బర్ హ్యాండి క్రాఫ్ట్ స్,  షోలే బ్లౌజేస్ , సల్వార్ కమీజ్, 1970 – 80 మధ్య కాలంలో వచ్చిన హిందీ సినిమాలతో  ఇన్స్ పైర్డ్ అయి తయారు చేసిన కలెక్షన్స్ హై లెట్ అయ్యాయి .

స్టైలిష్ ఇండియన్ డ్రెసెస్

ఫాషన్ ప్రపంచం రోజురోజుకూ విస్తరిస్తోంది. కొత్త కొత్త డిజైన్లు, వింత వింత ఫాషన్లు వస్తున్నాయి. వాటిల్లో బోల్డంత రమ్యత్వం, కావలసినంత దివ్యత్వం. ఎన్నో వెరైటీస్, ఎన్నెన్నో కలర్ కాంబినేషన్స్! గాగ్రా, చుడీదార్ లాంటి ఇండియన్ డ్రెసెస్ ఇండియన్ కల్చర్ ను చాటుతూనే ఫాషన్ ప్రపంచంలో స్థానం సంపాదించుకున్నాయి.

ఈ విస్తారమైన ఫాషన్ కాన్వాస్ మీద ఇండియన్ వేర్ తనదైన ముద్ర వేసుకుంది. గాగ్రా, చుడీదార్ లాంటి ఇండియన్ డ్రెసెస్ మరింత స్టైలిష్ గా రూపొందుతున్నాయి. ఇది అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. వెయ్యి రకాల వెస్ట్రన్ వేర్ పక్కన ఇండియన్ డ్రెస్ స్పష్టంగా తెలిసిపోతుంది. స్ట్రైకింగ్ గా నిలబడుతుంది. అందంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. ఆకర్షణీయంగా మురిపిస్తుంది.

గాగ్రా, చుడీదార్ లాంటి ఇండియన్ వేర్ ఎలిగేంట్ గా ఉంటాయని మనవాళ్ళే కాకుండా ఫారినర్లూ అంటున్నారు. గ్లామరస్ డ్రెస్ కు డెఫినిషన్ చెప్తాయి. స్టయిలిష్ గా ఉంటూనే డీసెంట్ గా ఉంటాయి. గ్రేట్ లుక్ తో గ్రేస్పుల్ గా ఉంటాయి. సర్ ప్రైజింగా, షాకింగా, ప్రెటీగా ఉంటాయి. రిచ్ గా, రాయల్ గా కనిపిస్తూ మనసులు దోచుకుంటాయి.

గాగ్రా, చుడీదార్ లాంటి ఇండియన్ డ్రెసెస్ చూపులకు అందంగా ఉండటమే కాదు, సుఖంగా ఉంటాయి. సౌఖ్యం కలిగిస్తాయి. డ్రెస్ స్టయిలిష్ గా ఉన్నప్పటికీ కంఫర్టబుల్ గా లేకపోతే ధరించడం ఇబ్బందే కదా! డిజైన్లో నవ్యత కనిపిస్తుంది. వింత శోభతో మెరుస్తాయి.

ఇలా అందమైన, అద్వితీయమైన ఫాషన్ వేర్ రూపొందించడంలో ఫాషన్ డిజైనర్ల పనితనం, క్రాఫ్టు అర్ధమౌతాయి. మన కల్చర్ ను ప్రతిఫలిస్తూనే, వైడ్ కాన్వాస్ పై ఒక ప్రత్యేక ముద్ర వేయడం అంటే మాటలు కాదు కదా!

అమెరికాకు తీసిపోని ఇండియన్ ఫాషన్ డిజైనర్స్

ఈ తరం పిల్లల్ని, పెద్దల్ని ఆకట్టుకుంటున్నవి డిజైనర్ వేర్. ఈమధ్యకాలంలో డ్రెస్ కాన్షస్ బాగా పెరిగింది. మనది పేద దేశమే అయినా అనేకమంది డిజైనర్ వేర్ పట్ల మొగ్గు చూపుతున్నారు. వాటికి అలవాటు పడుతున్నారు. డిజైనర్ దుస్తులు అందంగా, కంఫర్టబుల్ గా ఉంటాయని చెప్తున్నారు. తమ వార్డ్ రోబ్ ను డిజైనర్ వేర్ తో అలంకరిస్తున్నారు. పార్టీలకు, ఫంక్షన్లకే కాకుండా కాజువల్ వేర్ గా కూడా డిజైనర్ క్లోత్స్ వాడుతున్నారు.

ఇంతకీ డిజైనర్ వేర్ అంటే ఏమిటి? ఏదో మామూలు టైలర్స్ కత్తిరించి కుట్టినవి కాకుండా ఒక ఫాషన్ డిజైనర్ సరికొత్త తరహాలో ఆలోచించి, రూపొందించినవి.

ఫాషనబుల్ గా, క్రియేటివ్ గా, ఎట్రాక్టీవ్ గా, ఎక్స్ట్రార్డినరీగా ఉండే డిజైనర్ క్లోత్స్ చాలా ఎక్స్ పెన్సీవ్ అని తెలుసు కదా. అయినా వీటిని కొంటున్నారు, ఆనందిస్తున్నారు. మన దేశం ఎందులోనూ తీసిపోదని మధురా గార్మెంట్స్, అరవింద్ మిల్స్, ఆదిత్య బిర్లా లాంటి టెక్స్టైల్ కంపెనీలు చాటిచెప్తున్నాయి. పోటీపడి ఎప్పటికప్పుడు వినూత్నంగా ఆకర్షణీయమైన దుస్తులను రూపొందిస్తున్నాయి. ఇతర దేశాలకూ ఎగుమతి చేస్తున్నాయి.

హేమంత్ త్రివేది, మనీష్ మల్హోత్రా, రోహిత్ గాంధీ అండ్ రాహుల్ ఖన్నా లాంటి ఫాషన్ డిజైనర్స్ ప్రపంచ ప్రసిద్ధి పొందారు.

ఎప్పటికప్పడు స్పెషల్ గా...

ఆడపిల్లలు సహజంగా అందానికి, అలంకారానికి చాలా ప్రాధాన్యత ఇస్తారు. స్పెషల్ అపియరెన్స్ తో కనిపించాలని కలలు కంటారు. ఆ కలలను నిజం చేసుకునేందుకు కృషి చేస్తారు. అందంగా, ఫ్యాషనబుల్ గా ఉండేందుకు తమ వంతు ప్రయత్నం చేస్తుంటారు.

డ్రెస్ కాన్షస్ బాగా పెరిగింది. కాలేజ్, లేదా ఆఫీసుకి ఏ డ్రెస్ వేసుకోవాలి అని ఆలోచించడం పరిపాటి. ఎవరికి వారు తాము ప్రత్యేకంగా ఉండాలని కోరుకుంటున్నారు. అలాంటి స్పెషల్ అపియరెన్స్ కోసం తపిస్తూ, అందుకు అవసరమైన జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకుంటున్నారు. ఇక పెళ్ళిళ్ళు, పేరంటాల్లాంటి ప్రత్యేక సందర్భాలు వస్తే చెప్పనవసరం లేదు. గంటల తరబడి ఆలోచిస్తారు.

పూర్వం పండుగలు, పబ్బాలకు మాత్రమే కొత్త బట్టలు కొనుక్కునేవాళ్ళం. ఇప్పుడలా కాదు. ఎప్పుడు బుద్ధి పుడితే అప్పుడే, పరుగున వెళ్ళి కోనేసుకోవడం. చేతిలో నాలుగు రూపాయలు గలగలలాడితే, చలో షాపింగ్. ఇంట్లో పిల్లి పిల్లల్ని పెట్టిందా, కొత్త బట్టలు కొనుక్కోడానికో సాకు దొరికినట్టే. కుక్క పిల్లను ఇంటికి తెచ్చుకుని వారం రోజులయిందా, కొత్త డ్రెస్ కొనుక్కుని సెలెబ్రేట్ చేసుకోవాల్సిందే. కనుక ఇప్పుడు కొత్త బట్టలు కొనుక్కోడానికి పెద్ద అకేషన్లేం ఉండనక్కర్లా. ఎప్పటికప్పడు స్పెషల్ గా ఉండడమే సిసలైన ఎయిమ్.

పూర్వం ఫంక్షన్స్ లో బర్త్ డే బేబీ లేదా పెళ్ళికూతురు మాత్రమే మెరిసిపోయేవాళ్ళు. ఇప్పుడలా కాదు, అసలు వ్యక్తితో పాటు ఆ పార్టీకి వచ్చినవాళ్ళు కూడా చమకాయిస్తున్నారు. అదీ సంగతి. ఎప్పుడో ఓరోజు తళుక్కున మెరవడం కాదు, ప్రతిరోజూ తళతళలాడాలి, తళుకులీనాలి అనుకుంటున్నారు చిన్నాపెద్దా అందరూ.

ఫ్యాషన్ మారుతూనే ఉంటుంది...

ఫ్యాషన్ అనేది స్థిరంగా ఉండదు. మారుతూనే ఉంటుంది. దీనిమీద ఒక జోక్ కూడా ఉంది. రోమ్ లో ఒకావిడ లేటేస్ట్ ఫ్యాషన్ దుస్తులు తీసుకుని, అక్కడే ట్రయల్ రూం లో వేసుకుంది. బిల్లు చెల్లించిన వెంటనే పరుగుకు లంకించుకుంది. మధ్యలో ఒక స్నేహితురాలు ఎదురై "ఎదైనా ఘోరం జరిగిందా, ఎందుకు పరిగెడుతున్నావు?" అని అడిగింది. "అవును, ఘోరాలే జరుగుతున్నాయి. ఈ నిమిషం ఉన్న ఫ్యాషన్ రెండో నిమిషానికి మారిపోతోంది. అందుకే ఈ దుస్తులు అవుట్ డేటెడ్ కాకముందే కొందరైనా చూడాలని పరుగు తీస్తున్నా" అని చెప్పిందట.

నిజంగా ఫ్యాషన్స్ చాలా త్వరగా మారిపోతున్నాయి. కొన్నాళ్ళు పొట్టి చేతులు ఫ్యాషన్. ఇంకొన్నాళ్ళు పొడవు చేతులు ఫ్యాషన్. మరి కొన్నాళ్ళు మోచేతులదాకా ఫ్యాషన్. కొన్నాళ్ళు రిస్టువాచీ దాకా చేతులుంటే ఫ్యాషన్. ఇంకొన్నాళ్ళు మెగా స్లీవ్స్., మరికొన్నాళ్ళు స్లీవ్ లెస్ .. మెడలూ అంతే- రౌండ్ నెక్, వీ నెక్, స్క్వేర్ నెక్, బోట్ నెక్, లో నెక్, హై నెక్.. ఇలా ఎన్ని రకాల నెక్కులో! ప్రతిదీ మారుతుంటుంది. పాతనీళ్ళు పోతుంటాయి, కొత్తనీళ్ళు వచ్చి చేరుతుంటాయి. ఒకసారి టాప్, బాటమ్ కు మాచ్ అయితే ఫ్యాషన్. ఇంకోసారి కాంట్రాస్ట్ గా ఉంటే ఫ్యాషన్.

జీన్సులో ఎన్ని ఫ్యాషన్లు లేవు? రంగులు, డిజైన్ల సంగతి అలా ఉంచి వెలిసిపోయి, పాతబడినట్లు ఉండే ఫేడేడ్ జీన్స్, కాలిపోయినట్టు మసిబారినవి, చిరుగులతో ఉండేవి -ఇలా ఎన్ని రకాలో! పాంటుల్లో బెల్ టైపు, న్యారో టైపు, పారలల్సు, డిజైన్ ఉన్నవి, లేకుండా ప్లైయినువి ఇలా పలు రకాలు.

కనుక ఫ్యాషన్ చేంజెస్ కు తగ్గట్టు మన దుస్తులను డిజైన్ చేసుకుంటూ ఉండాలి. అప్పుడు ఫ్యాషనబుల్ గా, అధునాతనంగా కనిపిస్తాం.

జంప్ సూట్స్ కి జంప్ అవుతారా?

పై నుండి కింద దాకా ఒకే రకమైన డిజైన్ తో ఒకే క్లాత్ తో తయారయ్యే వస్త్రాలను జంప్ సూట్స్ అని అంటారు. ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ ప్రస్తుతం ఉన్న మహిళల ఫ్యాషన్ ప్రపంచంలో తమదైన హవా సాగిస్తున్నాయి. పెద్ద పెద్ద సెలెబ్రిటీస్ జంప్ సూట్స్ తో దర్శనమిస్తూ జోష్ కనబరుస్తున్నారు. స్లీవ్ లెస్, ఫుల్ స్లీవ్, హాఫ్ స్లీవ్ తో అందుబాటులో ఉండే ఈ జుంపింగ్ సూట్ లు సాధారణ సమయాల్లో కంటే వింటర్ లో భలే బాగుంటాయి. 

ఏంటి వీటి ప్రత్యేకత అంటే..

సుధారణంగా మహిళలు ధరించే టాప్, ప్యాంట్ వేరు వేరుగా ఉంటాయి. అయితే ఈ జంప్ సూట్ లో ఇవి రెండూ కలిపి ఉంటాయి. దీనివల్ల ఈ దుస్తులు శరీరం మొత్తాన్ని కవర్ చేసినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది.  సెలెబ్రిటీస్ అయితే ఈ జంప్ సూట్ లను విభిన్న రకాలు ధరించి హొయలు పోతుంటారు. అయితే ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ మొదటి నుండి ఫ్యాషన్ లో భాగం కాదట. ఈ మాట వినగానే అందరికీ ఆశ్చర్యం వేస్తుంది. కానీ అంతకంటే ఆశ్చర్యపరిచే విషయం ఏమిటంటే…. ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ మొట్టమొదట పారచుట్ వినియోగించేవారు ధరించే దుస్తుల్లో భాగమట. ఆ తరువాత వీటిని మంచు ప్రాంతాల్లో ట్రెక్కింగ్ కోసం, చలిని భరించడానికి తగినట్టుగా రూపొందించారట. 

స్పోర్ట్స్ లోనూ, సాహసకృత్యాలలోనూ వీటిని ధరించడం భాగంగా ఉండేది. ఆ తరువాత 2002 సంవత్సరం నుండి ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ ను ఫ్యాషన్ లో భాగంగా తీసుకురావడం మొదలుపెట్టారు. మరీ ముఖ్యంగా అమ్మాయిలకు ఇవి చాలా బాగా సెట్ అయిపోయాయి.

ప్రస్తుత కాలంలో అన్ని రకాలుగానూ అన్ని ఫాబ్రిక్ తోనూ ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ కనువిందు చేస్తున్నాయి.  ఓల్డ్ ఈజ్ గోల్డ్ అన్నట్టు అప్పుడెప్పుడో పుట్టిన ఈ రకపు వస్త్రాధారణ ఇప్పుడు కొత్త పుంతలు తొక్కుతోందనే చెప్పాలి. ఫ్యాషన్ నిపుణులు వీటిని మలుస్తున్న తీరు అమ్మాయిలకు వెర్రెక్కిస్తుంటాయి. అటు ఫ్యాషన్ గానూ, ఇటు చలికి శరీరాన్ని రక్షిస్తూనూ ఒకేసారి రెండు ప్రయోజనాలు చేకూర్చడం వీటిలో ఉన్న ప్రత్యేకత. ఫ్యాషన్ లో ఓలలాడే వనితలు ఈ జంప్ సూట్స్ ను తమ వార్డ్ రోబ్ లో కనీసం ఒక్కటైనా ఉంచుకోవాలి. లేకపోతే ఫ్యాషన్ కు కాస్త అర్థం తగ్గినట్టే…

ఇండియన్ ఫ్యాషన్ రంగంలో తనకంటూ ప్రత్యేక స్థానం సంపాదించుకున్న వారిలో హేమంత్ త్రివేది ఒకరు. ఈయన ఫ్యాషన్ స్టైలిస్ట్, ఫ్యాషన్ షో కొరియోగ్రాఫర్, ప్రొఫెసర్. ఆస్ట్రేలియా, న్యూయార్క్ లాంటి దేశాల్లో తమ చదువు పూర్తి చేసిన హేమంత్ త్రివేది తన కరియర్ కి మాత్రం ఇండియానే ఎంచుకున్నారు. దాదాపు ఇరవై ఏళ్లుగా S.N.D.T. యూనివర్సిటీ లో ప్రొఫెసర్ గా తమ విలువైన సేవలందిస్తున్న హేమంత్ త్రివేది దానితో పాటు ప్రముఖ శీతల్ గ్రూప్ లో డిజైన్ డైరెక్టర్ గా చేస్తున్నారు.

హేమంత్ డిజైన్స్ ఆయన కెరియర్ కే కాదు , అప్పుడప్పుడే మాడలింగ్ రంగంలో పుంజుకుంటున్న ఎందరో మాడల్స్ కి ఎసెట్ అయ్యాయి. 1995, 1998, 2000 లో వరసగా మిస్ వరల్డ్ గా ఎన్నికైన ఐశ్వర్యా రాయ్ , డయానా హేడెన్, ప్రియాంక చోప్రా లే దానికి ఉదాహరణ. ప్రపంచ ప్రఖ్యాతి గడిస్తూ ఇండియన్ ఫ్యాషన్ ఇండస్ట్రీ కే తలమానికంగా ఉన్న ఈ ఇండియన్ ఫ్యాషన్ డిజైనర్ నిజంగా ఇండియన్ ఫ్యాషన్ ఇండస్ట్రీ గర్వించదగ్గ విషయం. త్రివేది డిజైన్ ప్రదర్శనలు ఇండియాలోనే కాదు, U.K, U.S, చైనా, ఈజిప్ట్, మారిషస్, శ్రీలంక, U.A.E. దాదాపు సౌత్ ఈస్ట్ దేశాల్లో తన కీర్తిని చాటుకున్నాడు .

ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా ఏ ఫిల్మ్ ఫెస్టివల్స్ జరిగినా ముఖ్యంగా హై లెట్ అయ్యేవి రెండే రెండు అంశాలు అవి మంచి సినిమాలు, గ్లామెరస్ ఫ్యాషన్. ఈ రెండు అంశాలే రెడ్ కార్పెట్ కి ఎంతో విలువను చేర్చుతాయి. ఈ సారి బాలీవుడ్ తారలతో తళుక్కుమన్న కేన్స్ ఫెస్టివల్ మరింత కళకళలాడింది.

ఐశ్వర్యా రాయ్ ధరించిన ఇంత మంది తారలున్న ఐశ్వర్యా రాయ్ కళ్ళు చెదిరే అందంతో వెలిగిపోయి ఫెస్టివల్ ఓపెనింగ్ నైట్ కి ప్రత్యేక కళ తీసుకు వచ్చింది. జిమ్మీ ఛూ క్లచ్ వర్క్ తో ఉన్న ఎలీసాబ్ గౌన్ లో ఆకట్టుకుంది.

మరుసటి రోజు స్ట్రాప్ లెస్ గౌన్ మరియు వైట్ శాటిన్ అర్మాని ప్రైవ్ గౌన్ లో ' స్లీపింగ్ బ్యూటీ" ప్రీమియర్ షో లో భాగంగా కార్పెట్ వాక్ చేసింది. ఈ 37 ఏళ్ళ ప్రపంచ సుందరి తన రాబోయే చిత్రం 'హీరోయిన్ ' ఫస్ట్ లుక్ ని మథుర్ భండార్కర్ తో కలిసి రిలీజ్ చేసింది.

“ ద ఆర్టిస్ట్" ప్రీమియర్ షో లో భాగంగా హాజరైన సోనం కపూర్ కేన్స్ ఫెస్టివల్ లో పాల్గొనడం చాలా సంతోషంగా ఉందని, చెప్పుకుంది.. జీన్ పాల్ గాల్టియర్ గౌన్ లో చోపార్డ్ ఇయరింగ్స్ , అమర్ పాలి రింగ్ ధరించిన సోనం కపూర్ కేన్స్ ఫెస్టివల్ లో స్పెషల్ ఎట్రాక్షన్ గా నిలిచింది.

                                                  ఆఫీస్ నుండి తిరిగి రాగానే హమ్మయ్యా... రోజు గడిచిపోయింది అన్న ఫీలింగ్, ఫ్రెష్ అయి కాస్త రిలాక్స్ అవుదామని కూర్చునే లోపే పిల్లలు హోం వర్క్ తీసుకుని వచ్చి కూర్చుంటారు, వాళ్ళ సంగతి చూసి డిన్నర్ కోసం ఏం ప్లాన్ చేయాలా అని ఆలోచిస్తున్నప్పుడు గుర్తుకు వస్తుంది. కజిన్ ఎంగేజ్ మెంట్ . కంపల్సరిగా అటెండ్ అవ్వాలి, టైం చూస్తే అరగంట కన్నా ఎక్కువగా లేదు. ఏముంది పార్టీకి అటెండ్ అవుతున్నామన్న ఎగ్జైట్ మెంట్ కన్నా, అమ్మో.. ఇంత షార్ట్ పీరియడ్ లో ఎలా రెడీ అవ్వాలి అన్న టెన్షన్, అప్పటికప్పుడు పార్లర్ కి వెళ్ళలేరు, అలాగని అలసటతో పీక్కుపోయినట్టున్న మొహంతో పార్టీ కి వెళ్ళ లేరు...అదిగో అలాంటప్పుడే ఎక్స్ పర్ట్స్ చిట్కాలు పనికి వస్తాయి. వాటిని కాస్త ఓపిగ్గా పాటిస్తే చాలు , నిగనిగలాడే అందం మీ సొంతం .

Delhi Couture Week 2011

Designer Varun Bahl opened the second edition of Synergi1 Delhi Couture Week with a collection which was an amalgamation of Indian and royal French culture. Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit graced the show not as a showstopper but as a spectator. Madguri Dressed in white anarkali with minimal jewellery, Madhuri stole the limelight despite being the guest on the show.

Although the show started an hour late, the designer lived up to the expectation with his collection which was a contemporary interpretation of enduring classics. He kept the Indian aroma alive with a touch of French royalty. The collection was inspired by French queen Marie Antoinette. It had lehengas, anarkalis, farshi- pyjamas, and sarees. Majestic jackets and corset-like blouses similar to what was worn by the queen provided the backdrop of two cultures meeting together. The traditional French music in the background added glamour to the show being held at Taj Palace Hotel.

A post-graduate in hospitality and tourism from the University of Massachusetts, Khar has her roots in a wealthy feudal family of southern Punjab. In past appearances across the border, she has been spotted sporting bags from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Prada and Salvatore Ferragamo. She is a public figure with a very conservative and neat look. Her sense of using the right accessories makes her different from other politicians.

Here the fact is she wears high-end brands. Khar’s classic black Hermes’ Birkin could cost anything above $10,000-$15,000, her Roberto Cavalli shades cost over $500 and the Jimmy Choos over $900. Classic pumps, simple ballet flats and smooth leather boots without any details will slim you down and make you look taller. In case you’re petite avoid chunky boots, and bulky platforms. * To appear shorter, jackets or tops should fall below the hips.

* To lengthen your legs wear slim, straight leg pants.

* To appear taller and thinner, try a pinstripe suit.

* Long sleeves should hit just at the wrist bone.

* When you are wearing a white shirt, wear a bra close to your skin color.

* To hide wide hips, try an a-line style dress.

* Give a new updated look to an old blouse or jacket by sewing on new buttons.

* Pleats add pounds. If you want to look larger through the hips, wear pleats. If you don't, avoid pleats! · If clothes don't fit, have them altered. If they don't fit, they'll remain in the closet.

* Using colour to balance your body is a great idea. Wear light colours where you re small and dark colours where larger. For example, if you have large hips, wear dark skirts or pants and a light coloured blouse. Wearing set-in sleeves with shoulder pads will help you to balance wide hips. The shoulder pads will add to your shoulders therefore balancing with your hips.

* Don't choose clothes that are too tight. Clothes that fit well will make you appear slimmer while tight clothes will only add pounds.

* Wear tops or dresses that have a scoop neckline with half or long sleeves to hide heavy arms and draw attention to the face and neck.

Formal Dressing Indian Styles for Women

This is my special contribution for women who want conservative dressing advice. How do you dress a lady who does not like to show her shoulders or maybe the tip of her ankle?

My advice to conventional Indian women who want to dress the conservative way is, being conservative about clothes you wear reflects nothing but your comfort levels in public.

So don’t feel defensive about it. Hands down, there is no arguing about it that each woman envisions her body and style of clothes in a different comfort zone than others.

In India, it is very common to find families that are very particular about what their daughters and daughters-in-law wear in public.

Here’s my helping hand to our traditional women, who want to fit into the corporate world, where tight fitted office shirts with a peek-a-boo cleavage show and swanky high heels are common, with an élan and style of their own.

* Ensemble One

A simple high necked and hemmed colour kurti with a simple Patiala salwar, and smart shoes. Nowadays kurti with three-fourth sleeves are in vogue.

It’s my personal favourite, as it looks super-classy, and the length maintains your body’s shape. Go colour blocking, it’s doing the round these days. (Check out Get Stylish with Color Blocking)

* Ensemble Two

If you are fashionista living in a conservative and traditional environment, or with parents, then here’s a special deal for you. Try getting yourself the new Jodhpuris pants in vogue, and couple it with a crisp white shirt. This is sure to make a many jealous.

There are two reasons I recommend this outfit. This is because, the Jodhpuris cover the entire leg and a crisp shirt, and not necessarily tight (in fact I prefer a baggy one), can do wonders for an old school gorgeous lady like you.

* Ensemble Three

You want to wear a simple sari and make it look sexy and classy without the skin show? Get a tailor made cap sleeve blouse of half chiffon, and half cotton, with cotton for the bodice, and chiffon for the sleeves.

It’s difficult to explain, but yes, I’m talking about something like Kareena Kapoor donned in chart buster song ‘Chammak Challo’ in the movie, Ra-One. There is no need to worry when it comes to dressing up and be full-clothed.

Make Your Own Stylish with Color Blocking

Let me get you introduced to the vogue concept of Color Blocking, which could do wonders for your style statement. Don’t close this page, even if you are not a fashionista. This is a simple concept that can make any lady, whether simple lazy who does care to dress, or a plain Jane who has no means to dress, look uber cool, beautiful and chic, without a large spend of their pockets.

* Coming to the point, color blocking is nothing, but an effective choice of colored clothing. Simple mono colors for your pant and shirt, or skirt and top, can make you look chic. For example, the simple but effective style statement that most business women make, is with well-fitted dark denims, and a plain white simple shirt.

* Here, there are only two colors at work, dark blue, and white. This is what is known as color blocking. Of course, you could have you shirt divided into color, maybe the upper half till the bust could be orange and lower half from the under bust could be white jazzes with navy blue jeans. Then this could be a dash mono color white, orange, and navy blue.

* In this way a number of colors could be put in place in your clothing, but making sure that they are fitted in definite shapes. That’s the entire point of color blocking.

* Make sure that the mono color is filled in a particle part of block of your attire. Just like how we painted color on blocks and definite shapes in Coloring books and paint smudging outside sketches lost us marks in art exams.

* All right, if you have got what I’m trying to say I would like to suggest and illustrate Indian attire with color blocking. Imagine a well fitted bright hot pink ‘kameez’, totally plain minus design and any sort of design work or print, coupled with a bright orange plain cotton ‘churidar’ less print, or design with a lime green, or may be a bright red cotton ‘chunari’ or ‘dupatta’.

* Note here, we are using these simple colors, and creating magic with only color, reducing the details of art work and designs. For the cool ladies, I suggest blocking color in a pair of hot shorts with teamed up with a simple racer back, in any favorite mono color.

* Some personal recommendations my side would include wearing contrasting shoes, be it simple stilettos, or lady like ballerinas.

* Secondly, make sure your color blocking happens with a range of complementing color. Like red, oranges and pinks can be used together, while color like turquoise, blue, green, yellow can be used together.

* I suggest the use of chunky and loud jewelry, stones, large imitation crystals, etc to break the real simplicity behind color blocking.
