Ravi Teja is spent a playful childhood at his hometown. He was completed schooling at N.S.M Public School and graduated from Siddhartha Degree College, Vijaywada. He was eccentric even during his college life and aspired to become an actor, and he even tried eloping from this house for the same. Ravi Teja married Kalyani in the year 2002 and is blessed with two children - Mokshadha (daughter) and Manit (son).

Ravi Teja forayed into Telugu movies in 1993 and played a small role in Aaj Ka Gundaraj. He then joined Krishna Vamsi direction team an assistant director for Ninne Pelladatha, and also played a small role. Later, Krishna Vamsi casted Ravi Teja in Sindhuram movie, for which Ravi Teja’s character gained great attention, but it was still not enough.
