Daggubati Ramanaidu, popularly known as Rana is son of renowned Telugu movie producer Daggubati Suresh Babu, grandson of Movie Mogul Rama Naidu and nephew of Daggubati Venkatesh. Rana has set his eyes in the post production domain and he has literally transformed the scene in Southern India. He started his own company Spirit Media (post production facility) inaugurated in April by Barry Osborne, Hollywood film-maker and producer of The Lord of the Rings, Face Off and The Matrix trilogy.

Rana perused active photography course for a couple of years at Konica Institute of Imaging and Technology. Later, he was into consulting for cinematography at Timeline studio. Rana gained healthy experience during this time where he produced several documentaries and advertisement films.

By this time, Rana has complete authority on movies and its allied activities. In fact, his company Spirit Media has handled post production activities for high budget movies like ‘Dasavaatharam’, ‘Gandhi My Father’, ‘Lakshmi’, ‘Stalin’ and ‘Pokiri’. He also won the prestigious national award for his very first Telugu feature film, ‘A Belly Full of Dreams’.

After taking the company to great heights, Daggubati Rana’s Spirit Media teamed up with Prime Focus in 2006, where Rana is one of the Board of Directors. Rana then started focusing on movies and he has undergone extensive training in acting for 2 years at Barry John School of acting, Mumbai.

The year 2010 saw Daggubati Rana foraying into movies and his debut film was Leader (2010) directed by Sekhar Kammula and produced by AVM Productions. Leader movie got great honors and Tollywood showered praises on Rana for his performance. The movie is a political drama, where Rana dons the role of dynamic politician post his father’s death.

Soon after, Daggubati Rana entered Bollywood with ‘Dum Maro Dum’ directed by Rohan Sippy and co-produced by Fox Star Studio and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment. Dum Maro Dum’ movie is tipped to be an edgy dramatic thriller wherein Rana has shared screen space with Top Bollywood actors like Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Bas.u And this movie is yet to hit the screens.

Buoyed by his debut movies’ performance, Rana was casted by director Puri Jagannath for a movie titled ‘Nenu Naa Rakshasi’, where Ileana is playing the female lead. Nallamalapu Bujj is producing this film under Lakshmi Narasimha Productions and the movie is slated for summer 2011 release.
