Sankranthi Sambaralu 2010 by Telugu Cultural Association of Greater Toronto (TCAGT)

Telugu Cultural Association of Greater Toronto (TCAGT) has celebrated ‘Sankranthi Sambaralu 2010′ at Port Credit Secondary School, Mississauga on Saturday, 16th January 2010. Over 1000 Telugu people turned out with their families despite the cold weather from all over Greater Toronto and nearby cities. Function was attended by Dr. Hema Prasad Yedla, Chairperson.

Highlights of the function:

 Dr. Hema Prasad Yedla sang few ‘Padyalu’ and praised TCAGT for its efforts in encouraging youth and culture. (He was felicitated with ‘Shaluva’ , flowers and a memento by TCAGT President Dr. Rao Surapaneni, Secretary Ravi C Varanasi and Chairman Vijay Sastry Kotamarti.

TCAGT newly elected Executive Committee was introduced to members. All EC and BOT were appreciated and awarded for their contribution to Telugu community.

 Authentic Andhra Meals was served.

 Over 15 business stalls were displayed and all stalls were visited by Chief Guest and other members.

Stage performances were so difference than earlier, balance of cine-dance, drama, classical dances etc. These were well received and appreciated by the members.

Secretary Ravi C Varanasi in his speed, explained the plan of benefits TCAGT is bringing to its members by Ugadi Utsavalu 2010.

President Dr. Rao Surapaneni in his appeal requested members for their continued support and felt the need to have an own building for TCAGT. (Recently Dr. Rao Surapaneni donated over $10,000 to TCAGT).

 ‘Muggulu’ and ‘Essay Writing’ competitions were held and members participated in huge numbers. Winners were given awards by Chief Guest.

 Media, TV Asia and CMR participated and covered the event to be broadcasted soon.

Over 60 performers staged 30 plus programs (detailed program guide is attached). All performers were encouraged with a memento by TCAGT from Chief Guest.

 Back-Stage was coordinated by Vice President Ramesh Munukuntla, Reception by Treasurer Ram Duggina, Director Hemanth Dondolu, Food facilities by Joint Secretary Devendar Gujjula, Joint Treasurer Sreenath Kundoori, Director Rakesh Garikapati, Muggulu and Essay Writing Competitions by Directors Anu Nimmagadda and Lokesh Chillakuru.

 Anchoring was done by Youth Directors Nikhita Paluri and Madhu Nalam with help from Gautham Pulagam.

TCAGT thanked all Performers, Sponsors, Volunteers and ‘record’ attendees, with a promise to bring more entertaining for Ugadi Utsavalu 2010. Program ended with respects to both India and Canada national anthems. Entire program lasted for 6 hours (5pm to 1am).
