Sweet Pongal ( Guru Purnima Special)

 

 

 

As someone rightly said,“Part of secret of success is to eat what you want”. Festivals are the so correct occasions for us to pamper ourselves with food of our choice. Today on this auspicious occasion of “Guru Poornima” we bring this Indian traditional sweet “Sweet Pongal”.

 

Ingredients:

Green gram dal -1/4 cup

Bengal gram - 1 table spoon

Rice- 1 cup

Milk- 1cup

Cashew nuts-1 table spoon

Raisins - 1 tables spoon

Sugar - 1/4 cup

Saffron - 1 thread

 

Preparation:

Take non stick pan and roast both lentils ( dal) and add rice; roast till entire content turns in to light brown color. Transfer rice and dals in to a pressure cooker, add water and cook till 5 whistles come. Now add 1/4 cup water and milk to this cooked content and stir well and add saffron thread and add sugar now, mix well and keep aside. Now season this by taking a 2 spoons ghee, heat in a pan and add cashew nuts and raisins and fry nicely. Add this whole content to the cooked “pongal” and serve hot.
