Suhas has grown into a dependable performer and upcoming star with strong box office presence in Telugu Cinema. But his recent films have ended up being failures and he is expecting a change of fortune with Hey Balwanth. VK Naresh has been prominently highlight of several new releases and with him in a lengthy role, this movie did have a good anticipation. Let's discuss about the 20th February release, at length.

Plot:
Krishna Balwanth (Suhas) aspires to become a rich businessman taking over his father Balwanth(Naresh)'s business. But his father doesn't want him to enter into it and asks him to do a job that suits his profile. He decides to prove his worth to his father and meets Mithra (Shivani Nagaram). She runs an NGO, Mithra Foundation and funds small-scale industries in Guntur. Krishna starts to give practical business advices to improve their financial condition..

They develop a romantic relationship and she wants him to meet her family. Her father, local political leader, PVB (Harshavardhan) aims to tarnish his rival, sitting MLA (Ajay Ghosh)'s image. Meanwhile, due to Balwanth's medical condition, Krishna enters into the business and decides to not attach his name to it. What is the business? How it affects him and his life? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Suhas is good in his role and he improved in his dramatic skills. He needed much better lines to shine through as the actor is able to be in character from start to finish. Shivani Nagaram is fine and Naresh runs the show. Writera have given him tough portions to carry emotionally and comically. He does it very well. Others are fine in their respective roles while Sudharshan shines, Vennela Kishore is a mixed bag.

Naresh does a great job in comedy scenes and awkward moments but asking him to imitate current stars did not really come across as anticipated. He did try his best but the scene seem to have dragged a little too much. His interaction with Sudarshan and mainly, later's punches provided some laugh-out-loud moments.

Vivek Sagar's music is passable for the film but doesn't really shine as a highlight. Scenes involving Sravanthi and other ladies could have been much better thought out and written. Also, some places had potential for even better comic punches and scenes but they are left under explored. Even the predictability factor kicks into narrative undermining the impact.

Strong climax and slightly less draggy scenes in second hour could have made it compact. Still, with Naresh and Sudharshan shining through, the movie manages to be a decent watchable entertainer with slightly edgy theme. Technically, movie doesn't really offer much and editing, cinematography could have been better. Overall, Hey Balwanth ends up as a watchable entertainer.

Positives:

Suhas and Naresh performances
Sudharshan punches and timing
Story set-up and laugh-out-loud moments
Few songs

Negatives:

Draggy scenes in second hour
Few portions could have been written better
Missed opportunities for better jokes in second hour.

Bottomline:

A decent entertainer with laugh-out-loud moments sprinkled here and there.
