Digital production house Chai Bisket, a recognized hub for fostering young talent, has unveiled Chai Shots, India’s first regional vertical short-series OTT platform. This pioneering initiative is set to revolutionize content consumption by delivering narrative storytelling specifically designed for the smartphone screen.
Recently, the consumption of content in vertical shorts form has been prominent and there are many drama short apps from USA, Korea, China and Japan that present their dramas in vertical short series format. Tik-Tok and many apps have tried to bring it to India but Chai Shots, seem to be big step forward in this initiative for Telugu language.
The platform has secured significant backing, with Rana Daggubati supporting the venture alongside cinema heavyweights Mythri Movie Makers. A powerful consortium of prominent entrepreneurs, including Sri Harsha Majety & Nandan Reddy, Phanindra Sama, Alakh Pandey & Prateek Maheshwari, Aravind Sanka, Pavan Guntupalli & Rishikesh SR, Rohit Chennamaneni, and Amar Nagaram, has committed an investment of Rs. 20 crores.
Chai Shots promises an unprecedented, rapid "pitch-to-live" turnaround of just 45 days for compelling ideas. This accelerated production cycle, combined with the two-minute maximum duration for each short episode, is tailored for the modern, fast-paced content ecosystem.
Rana Daggubati praised the venture as "very exciting," noting the adaptation of "narrative storytelling... to the vertical, short-form medium." Meanwhile, Mythri Ravi hailed the platform as a "foundation for future of Cinema Industry" and a crucial "breeding ground to find new talents." Chai Shots is poised to become the definitive launchpad for the next generation of regional filmmakers.
