RRR becomes first film screened in Kashmir after 23 years

After three decades, theatres in Kashmir have reopened. Because of terrorism, all of the theatres there have been closed since 1990, and now the film theatres have reopened, marking a milestone historical moment.
In their place, the government has constructed multiplexes. Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha inaugurated the multiplexes in South Kashmir's Sofian and Pulwama yesterday. The Mission Youth Department of the government and the respective district administrations work together to construct them.
PAN Indian blockbuster RRR was screened following Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's opening of two theatres. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was screened in another theatre. These newly built multiplexes will soon be available in every district.
There were theaters in Kashmir Valley till 1980. The owners shut them down after receiving threats from two terrorist organisations. Despite efforts to reopen them after ten years, threats returned. Terrorists blew up the Regal Theater in Srinagar's Lalchowk in 1999. Later, the Neelam and Broadway theatres were opened, but they were forced to close due to a lack of audience
