Akshay Kumar decides to cut his fee for share in profits

Jun 9, 2026 3:29PM

Akshay Kumar had been in reports for charging huge remuneration per film despite doing 4-5 films per year. Now, he has decided to change that approach and slashed his upfront fee by almost 98%. He reportedly took  smaller immediate payment combined with a share in the film’s future revenues for his upcoming film Welcome To The Jungle.

According to the reports, Akshay’s upfront remuneration for the film is said to be around Rs. 1.8 crore, instead of usual Rs.70 crore. The arrangement reportedly allows him to participate in earnings linked to the film’s intellectual property and post-release revenue streams rather than depending entirely on a fixed paycheck.

The reported structure marks a shift from the traditional Bollywood star-fee model, where leading actors take a substantial amount before release regardless of box office performance. In this case, a larger portion of returns would depend on how the film performs commercially.

The development comes amid increasing conversations in the industry around production costs, recovery models and long-term profitability. Revenue-sharing arrangements have become a recurring discussion point as producers look for ways to balance budgets without reducing scale.

Welcome To The Jungle remains one of Akshay Kumar’s major upcoming commercial entertainers, and the reported deal structure has now become one of the talking points surrounding the project.
