Delhi, haven for rapes

The capital of the country, Delhi, has once again been proved as the worst city for women to live in. the city has now topped the list of rapes among all the metros in the country.
As per the figures released by the National Crime Records Bureau, about 572 rapes have taken place in Delhi in 2011. The figure is 221 for Mumbai, 97 for Bangalore, 76 for Chennai, 59 for Hyderabad and 46 for Kolkata. Coming to the figures related to the kind of crime in states, about 3,406 rapes have taken place in Madhya Pradesh.
In West Bengal, the figure is 2,363. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, Maharashtra have, in order, have succeeded in the list. In Andhra Pradesh, the figure is 1,442 last year. Sikkim is the bottom of the list with least number of incidents on the kind of atrocities in the entire country.
