Aamir Khan has delivered huge disasters back to back and his penchant to remake International Films did not yield him big box office returns. The actor has decided to remake Spanish movie, Champions, as it makes heroes of autistic and specially abled people. He planned movie Sitaare Zameen Par, as a second film in franchise of Taare Zameen Par. The movie released today and let's discuss about it in detail.

Plot:
Gulshan (Aamir Khan), a temperamental basketball assistant coach hits the head of Delhi State Team and gets suspended. He drinks and hits police car, which lands him in Court and as punishment Judge decides to give him Community Service, as coach of a specially abled Down syndrome affected players team. Can he iron out differences with his wife Suneeta (Genelia) and become a better coach of this team taking them to nationals? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:
Aamir Khan looked a little odd in the movie as his make-up seemed a little off. His performance also did not match the playful energy the film needed. He is good in comic scenes but seemed to try too hard in few and try to be too caricaturish with his eyebrows in others. Overall, his performance needed to be the highlight of the film but it doesn't really stand out.

Genelia Deshmukh is good as his wife and makers did a good job in bringing all the real actors who have Down Syndrome. Still, the movie feels a little too draggy, preachy with over emphasis on trying to create an emotional connect without strong scenes.

The impact is missing as we are looking at a team of people with ability yet the fun that makers tried to generate with them at the centre did not really work out. The movie tries a little bit too hard to sell Basketball as big popular game in India but it doesn't really come off.

Aamir Khan did not really come into his own till the climax portions and even then, the film seems to drag the emotion a little bit too much. Taare Zameen Par had a very strong emotional core but Sitaare misses the same while it tries hard to find it.

Bottomline:
Feels more cliched than a humane sports drama.

Rating: 2.25/5
