No New Railway Zone for AP or T
Updated : Apr 5, 2014
As part of the bifurcation process the Union Ministry has very clearly stated that it will not possible to establish a new Railway Zone either in Telanagana or Seemandhra and that it is not needed to set up a rail coach factory in Telangana either.
In the 13th schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act it was proposed that the Centre will examine the idea of a new railway zone in rest of Andhra Pradesh and the feasibility of a rail coach factory in Telangana. But both of these were rejected by the railway ministry, that a rail coach factory in Telangana is "not needed as the existing capacity and planned capacity is sufficient to meet future needs". And with regards to the new railway zone proposal was not justified due to financial, geographical viabilities and other reasons." This proposal had lot of expectations as this would boost the transport facilities in both States which has been regarded as major let down by the Center with regards to the development of the States.
