ATA Board Meeting in Washington DC

American Telugu Association (ATA) held its Board meeting in Washington D.C. on Sept 17th in Embassy Suites under the leadership of ATA President Dr. Rajendar Jinna. Besides ATA Board members, large section of Telugu community attended the board meeting including ATA standing committee chairs, regional coordinators and various prominent local Greater Washington D.C. area Telugu community members. More than 250 delegates attended the meeting from all over USA.

ATA Board of Trustees discussed on various matters, which includes 12th ATA 2012 conference at Atlanta, charitable programs and ATA Vedukalu in Andhra Pradesh. President Dr.Rajendar Jinna explained on various activities that were undertaken in the last year highlighting how ATA is focused on service to Telugu community. Dr.Jinna also reported to the Board on the planning and progress for the 12th ATA Convention and fund raising efforts for the convention. Presenting on planning and progress on ATA Vedukalu Karunakar Madhavaram, President-Elect explained how this year ATA Vedukalu will be different from previous as the main focus is to provide seva (charity) services besides promoting Telugu culture and heritage. Karunakar also said this year ATA Vedukalu will be held in Karimnagar, Mylavaram & Hyderabad during the 2nd week of December.

Atlanta ATA Convention team with about 50 conference committee chairs/co-chairs and members of various committees led by Mr. Karunakar Asireddy (convener) and Dr. Jagammohan Rao (coordinator) have travelled from Atlanta to Washington DC to attend the ATA Board Meeting. There was great sprit and the enthusiasm from the Atlanta Convention team as they explained the planning and progress for the 12th ATA Convention. The board members expressed their satisfaction over progress made by the Atlanta 2012 conference team and exhorted all the members to work hard to make the 12th ATA 2012 Conference to be held in Atlanta as the best ever.

ATA board unanimously elected Dr. Ravi Kallur from Kansas City for vacant Trustee position and extended their sincere thanks to Washington DC team Ram Mohan Konda (Secretary), Bhuvanesh Boojala (Trustee), Rajesh Madireddy (Trustee), and regional coordinators Manoha Eenugu, Soumya kondapalli, Babu Gummadi, and Jayender for their grand hospitality and for making the event great success. After the board meeting Bhuvanesh Boojala hosted a dinner party at his residence.
