Be prepared for alliance with regional party: Rahul Gandhi
No one knows how the Congress party’s future would be. But, many agree it would not be bright. Perhaps, its vice-president Rahul Gandhi also may foresees the blinking future of his party. As if he realized that his party can’t come to power on its own anywhere in India, he declared that Congress party is open for alliance with any regional parties in Uttar Pradesh state for the Assembly elections scheduled for 2017. He declared this at a meeting with his party workers held at Amethi on Wednesday.
There is plenty of time for UP Assembly elections. Hence, he can guide his party workers and leaders to prepare for it from now itself. Instead of readying the party to fight alone and win the elections, Rahul Gandhi is asking them to be prepared to work under some regional party. This is clearly underlining his inability to steer the party and lack of leadership qualities.
He seems is keen to strike a pact with the ruling Samajwadi party lead by Mulayam Singh Yadav. Actually, Mulyam’s son and UP State Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has made a proposal to Congress party few weeks ago.
He said “We are ready to join hands with the Congress party right now, if it agrees to make my father Mulayam Singh Yadav as Prime Minister of the country after next general elections. If, Rahul Gandhi agrees we will make him Deputy Prime Minister.”
Congress party has not responded to his proposal, but Rahul Gandhi’s latest announcement is like endorsing his proposal. Even if, Rahul Gandhi does not want to settle for Deputy Prime Minister Post, if he agrees for alliance with Samajwadi Party, it would be assumed as accepting his proposal. In fact, being the vice-president of the party Rahul Gandhi is expected to build confidence in his party leaders and workers. But, he himself lacks self-confidence and zeal to steer his party to victory. So is he may be talking about alliance with a regional party that wants him to work under it.
