- Maharashtra is facing its worst drought ever with the crops failing for third year in a row.
- The drought in Maharashtra seems to have moved Sachin Tendulkar to his heart.
- He is planning to help the drought-affected farmers of Marathwada region in Maharashtra.
- Tendulkar's personal assistant Narayan Kanhan has visited the drought hit areas and met with the officials to make an estimate.
- Tendulkar is expected to help these farmers with necessary equipment needed for irrigation.
- Though Tendulkar is a member in Rajya Sabha, he doesn’t wish to involve any political party in his motive to help the farmers.
- Legendary Bollywood actors Nana Patekar and Akshay kumar were already helping the needy farmers through their own funds.
- It’s not the first cause for Tendulkar in Philanthropy... every year, he sponsors 200 underprivileged children through Apnalaya, a Mumbai-based NGO.
