Andhra Pradesh politics is witnessing a sea of change with senior leaders quickly changing parties. Congress leader and former MOS Human Resource Development Daggubati Purandeshwari and her husband Daggubati Venkateshwar Rao have officially declared that they are quitting the Congress and moving to the BJP. MLA Dronam Raju Srinivasa Rao from Visakhapatnam -South and other leaders had requested them not to leave but the Daggubati couple had given clear indications that they were not interested in staying and have decided to move on to the BJP.
After her resignation from her post as protest against the bifurcation of the state she claimed that the Congress has done grave injustice to the State of Andhra Pradesh and it was in the interest of the public that she and her husband have decided to move on to the BJP as she sees no future for the Congress in the state. Speaking in Visakhapatnam where she met the other party workers and she and her husband said that the Congress has insulted her and paid no heed during the tabling of the bill. She further elaborated that the people would decide if her move is correct or not in the coming elections.
The other version is that she was asked to vacate her Vizag seat in favour of T Subba Rami Reddy for the upcoming elections and this left her fuming at being sidelined and prompted the move. That she might either contest from Vijayawda or Visakhapatnam is yet to be seen. She will going to Delhi tomorrow to speak to the senior BJP leader L K Advani and the apparent rumour is that the official joining date into the BJP is the 13th of March, 2014.
