Heena Sindhu- World’s Number One Shooter

Heena Sindhu, the Indian shooter clinched the World’s Number One spot in 10 meters air pistol event on 7 April 2014. This has put her in the slot of  the first Indian pistol shooter to be ranked at the top position in the list.  Sindhu clinched the first spot in the rankings list by replacing the world champion Zorana Arunovic of Serbia with total of 1699 rating points. The rankings was released by International Shooting Sport Federation claimed that Sindhu was successful in achieving the World Number 1 spot through her performances in the recent events.

Born in Ludhiana, her tryst with shooting began at a very young age when she was in Class 12t and subsequently participating in different competitions from 2007.Her Uncle who is a professional Gun-Smith and a Guns customizer and her Father, Mr.Rajbir Sidhu who was a National shooter himself, supported her in pursuing her dream of making her country proud and taking up shooting as a profession. Her brother Karanbir Sidhu and husband are also professional shooters and it all runs in the family.

She is truly an inspiration where this kind of a sport which is dominated by men, but has received all the support and encouragement at home from her father and uncle.
