Winter Health!

Winter weather in any region is brutal to the local people, be it the coldest countries or the hottest continents. Winter weather can leave hair, skin and nails dry and lackluster. How to keep these body parts healthy during winters may not be an open question but everytime one finds leisure moments, one may ask themselves, seeking for advice.

Once Again, kitchen cabinet is the solution.Virgin Coconut oil can be used as a long-lasting body moisturiser, free of chemicals, not so expensive, and as a multi-purpose item. It will leave the body feeling greasy first, but very quickly gets absorbed, there would not be any traces of the oil applied.  It also works well to cope with eczema, dry patches and acne. I prefer WholeFoods' 365 brand of Organic Virgin Coconut oil or even Trader Joes' brand, available in the USA.

For dry hair solutions, we Indians know the uses of coconut oil, however, the virgin version is considered better and efficient, compared to those sold in the stores, specially for hair care, they are over-filtered and may tend to lack the best qualities of the oil, leaving only the oily part of it.

For dry nails treatment, regularly massage virgin coconut oil into your hands and feet, with special attention on the cuticles and nail beds.

Along with using coconut oil for treating these dry body areas, drinking plenty of water and eating enough protein is key to improving hair, nail and skin health. Omega-3 and Anti-oxidant rich foods, Green tea help with hydration and green tea has polyphenols packed with healing abilities. Dairy products like yoghurt contain vitamin A and calcium which keep the nails healthy and strong, foods with vitamin B, Biotin and other minerals can be extremely beneficial in improving hair, nail and skin health during the harsh winter season, anywhere in the world!
