Rahul who played the role of Tyson in Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days had later starred in several films as lead hero. The young hero is testing his luck with the latest film Venkatapuram. Let’s see whether the film provides break for the actor or not…
Story:
Anand (Rahul) is a decent guy works at a pizza delivery shop. He resides in a penthouse in an apartment to where Chaithra (Mahima) shifts to along with her family. Chaithra initially misunderstands him as a rogue, but later becomes a good friend with him ever since he saves her from few bad guys. Chaithra has two friends in her college who has smoking habit. Chaithra too wanted to taste cigarette. When college principal gets to know about this she closes gives strict orders to staff. Then, they opt to enjoy smoking at a beach where the two girls get raped and Chaithra who escapes from the scene is demanded to meet the rapists as to get her handbag consisting of her passport. Anand comes in rescue of Chaithra, but story takes new twists and turns. Who are the rapists? What happens to Chaithra? For whom Anand is waiting to take revenge on?

Analysis:
Director Venu Madikanti opted to a good script. Though the story narration turns gripping ever since main story starts in second half, first half was a bit boring with unnecessary and boring episodes. Even, Rahul and Mahima Makhwana’s love track wasn’t appealing. A group of rapists were introduced in first half who waits for girls to come to a beach. Right artists were chosen for these roles and they make good impact. Story takes new twists with two friends of Mahima gets raped in the beach. Movie becomes absorbing in second half with Rahul narrating his past and taking revenge on culprits who spoil Mahima’s life. The way director Venu unfolded the secret is engrossing. Police station fight resembles of Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi fight sequence was one of the best parts of the film.
Artists Performances:
Rahul has definitely given best performance. He pulled off the role of a decent guy Anand who turns violent with a shocking incident to his girlfriend with ease. Apparently, Rahul worked hard to build a shapely physique. He exhibits his body in police station fight sequence. He was equally good as a decent guy and a violent revenge seeker. Actress Mahima Makhwana is prett and has given decent performance. Ajay Ghosh was too good as a police officer and Ajay played the role of an investigation officer effortlessly. The guys who played rapists were good and Vishwanath Kashi was okay. Other artists were acceptable.
Technical Aspect:
Director Venu Madikanti has penned a good story, but he should have taken best care on screenplay, especially the first half where you find many boring sequences. However, gripping narration in second half makes the film a good watch. Achu has provided good album and background score too is enchanting. Cinematography by Sai Prakash is definitely worth a special mention. Production values are good for a low budget film.
Verdict:
Venkatapuram is a good experimental film. The film may appeal to class audiences.
