Story:

Jagadish (Vijay) is a military officer and a secret agent who comes to Mumbai for Holidays. Jagadish’s parents engage him to Nisha (Kajal) who is a boxer. While Jagadish is happily spending his time, he witnesses a bomb blast in Mumbai and comes to know that there is a terrorist group involved in this. Jagadish vows to safeguard the city from the terrorist group before he gets back to Indian Army. Will Jagadish succeed in stopping the terrorist group? Can he safeguard the city? All these form the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Thuppakki movie starts off well with Vijay’s introductions as an army officer. Director Murugudoss has selected a sensitive script and has made sure that the connectivity between the scenes is not lost, unlike the regular dubbing movies. Love chemistry between Vjay and Kajal could have been much better and in the limited scenes between the pair, director has done his job. Interval episode has been shot well and is one of the major highlights for the film.

Second half of Thuppakki is all about how the Villain (Vidyut Jamal) tries to take revenge on Jagadish. The mind games between Jagadish and the villain are good. Though the action sequences are good, climax seems to be a little bit drawback for the movie.

Teluguone Perspective:

Telugu audience have welcomed most of the dubbing movies from Tamil which has got good script and Thuppakki movies falls into the same section. Rather than banking more on comedy and violence, Murugudoss has choosed a wonderful subject and executed it well. Songs are the major drop back for Thuppaki movie and not even a single song seems to be watchable (except for Vijay’s dances and Kajal’s glamor). With no other Telugu movie releasing at the box-office until November 30(Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum), Thuppakki has got advantage to rake money at the box-office.

Performances:

Vijay is the major asset for Thuppakki and his performance is fantastic. Though Vijay is famous for mass masala movies, his body language in this film is perfect. Kajal Agarwal has done her job in a limited role she has given and the actress looked very beautiful in the movie. Vidyut Jamal has done wonderful job as a baddie and Malayalam actor Jayaram has brought some smiles for the audience. Rest of the artist have done their job well

Technicalities:

Santosh Sivan’s Cinematography is good and this can be seen in some of the action episodes. Biggest disappointment in the movies is songs from Harris Jayraj which are medicore. However, the background music is fantastic. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is good.

Positives:

Story
Vijay’s performance
Murugudoss directorial skills

Negatives:

Songs
Climax

Final Word: Thuppakki is a decent entertainer and can be watched for Vijay’s performance and Murugudoss’s script.
