IT Attaches SRK Farmhouse

on Jan 31, 2018

The income-tax (I-T) department has provisionally attached Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s Deja Vu Farms, a 19,960-squaremetre property at Alibaug near Mumbai, under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions (PBPT) Act in December.

SRK is alleged to have bought the agricultural land for farming purposes, but instead constructed a lavish farmhouse there.

It is illegal to transfer agriculture land to non-agriculture users without taking the permission of either the district collector or the state government, as per Maharashtra's Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act.

As per reports, the attachment of the property could be for at most 90 days from the date the notice was issued. The circle rate of the attached property is Rs 146.7 million. However, the market price is believed to be five times more.
