SCOOP: Ticket Hike, A Costly Looting

on Aug 13, 2015

If it took a film like S/o Satyamurthy to get 50 crores “share” after 2 weeks of its run, what made “Srimanthudu” bag that figure in just 5 days. First of all, cinema analysts say that these figures are bloated and there is no genuine revelation in it. Let’s hope if this figure is true to certain extent, then what could have helped the movie?

Just before the release of “Srimanthudu” movie, Andhra Pradesh government has given the theatres in the state to hike ticket rates from 60 rupees to 100 rupees in major towns. Generally when official ticket is 60 rupees, then our theatre management and shabby distribution guys used to sell them for 100 rupees. Now that government has helped them make it hundred, no doubt they are selling it for 150 rupees. That will surely help the film get stupendous collections as this ticket hike simply loots pockets of audiences mercilessly.

Even though cinema is for entertainment, for many film lovers it’s like a drug they could not live without. Looking into such scenarios its better if government doesn't allows theatres to hike ticket rates.
