Expectations are very high on Rarandoy Veduka Chudham as hero Naga Chaitanya and director Kalyan Krishna’s last respective movies Premam and Soggade Chinni Nayana were blockbusters. Let’s see whether the film will live up to the expectations or not…
Story:
Naga Chaitanya (Shiva) and Bhramarambha aka Bhramara (Rakul Preet Singh) meet at a wedding and love at first sight happens to Shiva. For the first time in her life, Bhramara is in a situation to come out of house to do higher education in Vizag which happens to be native place of Shiva. When the very frightful Bhrama seeks Shiva help to pass time, he is always there for her. However, she accepts to continue the friendship only on a condition of not to love her forever as she wishes to marry guy of her father’s choice. As to maintain or strengthen the relationship, Shiva too okays her proposal. Over a period of time, Bhramara too starts adoring him when she observes his helping nature.
Meanwhile, Bharama’s father Aadi (Sampath Raj) fixes her marriage with his close friend and brother-in-law Prabhakar’s son. Though Aadi initially accepts his daughter’s love with Shiva when he gets to know from her, he immediately says no when he is known that Shiva is none other than his once close friend and now enemy Krishna’s (Jagapathi Babu) son. What’s the enmity between Aadi and Krishna? What happens to Shiva and Bhramara’s love?

Analysis:
Movie starts with Nagarjuna voice over. Jagapathi Babu, Sampath Raj and Prabhakar are close friends. However, a misunderstanding leads to a brawl between Sampath and Jagapathi. After several years, Jagapathi’s son Naga Chaitanya meets Sampath’s daughter Rakul in a marriage like in regular family entertainer films. Rakul is ‘nanna kuchi’ and vice versa. Meanwhile, a strong bond develops between Chay and Rakul. The track was really boring with regular scenes of Chay accomplishing all needs of Rakul. Later, Chay realizes that, he is addicted to Rakul, though he hates her viewpoint towards marriage and fiancé. When he comes to a conclusion that, she never changes her attitude, he gives a lecture to her explaining how much pain he had gone through because of her atypical nature. The beach sequence of Chay expressing his anguish on Rakul was well-written and rightly captured. Then, Rakul realizes her fault and decides to accept Chay’s love. But, like in regular Telugu cinema her father becomes villain to their love. The biggest mistake committed by director Kalyan Krishna was he gave enough of time and space for unnecessary things and less bothered about main plot. He should have taken much care about flash back episodes which are actually a key for any film.
Artists Performances:
Naga Chaitanya appeared cool and trendy and is improvising as an actor. He gave far better performance to his previous films, but was overacting at places. Rakul Preet Singh is real hero of the film as story revolves around her and the character of Bhramarambha gets much significant than any other role. She was gorgeous in traditional avatar. Unlike her previous films, Rakul indeed got better role to perform and she pulled off it with ease. Jagapathi Babu is good as Chay’s father and Sampath is also worthy as Rakul’s father. Vennela Kishore was simply amazing. The only sequences where you get some entertainment are all the episodes where Kishore is seen. All other character and comedy artists were wasted completely.
Technical Aspect:
Director Kalyan Krishna picked a regular story and copied tracks from old movies to pen lethargic screenplay. The film hardly has any entertainment due to sluggish narration. Better not to talk about- Chay and Rakul’s romantic track which was again neither a fresh one nor charming. The flashback episodes were also not convincing. Perhaps the director has an opinion that fullness on screen comes with inclusion of large number of artists which according to him will give family or homely feeling to audiences. But he was completely wrong. When there is no potential content and there’s nothing to do for artists, completeness won’t come. SV Vishweshar’s cinematography adds color to the movie. Except for couple of songs, Devi Sri Prasad composed audio album was pretty ordinary and background score was not up to his standards. Editor Gawtam Raju should have chopped many sequences in first half as well as second half. Production values of Annapurna Studios are top notch.
Verdict:
Rarandoy Veduka Chudham is not up to the mark of director Kalyan Krishna’s last movie Soggade Chinni Nayana. The film has many negatives than very few positives. The content would please neither families nor youth.
