2016 belongs to young tiger Jr NTR who has two blockbusters to his credit. Senior hero Nagarjuna has also scored two hits this year. Here is the list of highest-grossing Telugu films in 2016:
1. Janatha Garage:

This commercial entertainer film which has a social message collected highest shares in 2016. Directed by Koratala Siva, Janatha Garage minted a worldwide share of Rs 81.3 Cr for full run. Despite mixed talk, the Jr NTR and Mohanlal starrer film dominated box office for weeks. It’s a true blockbuster overall.
2. Sarrainodu

Sarrainodu was criticized by critics. But, response from audience for the film was overwhelming. Except for overseas, the Boyapati Srinu directorial raked record collections in all areas. Overall, the film collected a share of 76 Cr. It is second highest grosser in 2016 and biggest hit for Allu Arjun.
3. Nannaku Prematho
Jr NTR started the year with a success in the form of Nannaku Prematho. The film was lauded by critics as well as movie buffs. It is indeed the first 50 cr share film for NTR. Directed by Sukumar, Nannaku Prematho minted a share of Rs 53.2 Cr. While the movie made strong business in overseas and other class territories, it was decent in mass centers. Overall, it’s a hit film.
4. Oopiri

Prasad Vara Potluri dared to make a class entertainer like Oopiri with Nagarjuna by spending huge budget. The Vamsi Paidipally directed film which also had Karthi and Tamannah Bhatia playing important roles collected a share of 52.31 Cr (including Tamil version Thozha). Considering budget spent on both Telugu and Tamil versions, it’s not a super hit but an above average grosser.
5. Sardaar Gabbar Singh
If not Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Sardaar Gabbar Singh would end as a disaster. The film which was made on a huge budget was sold to distributors for whopping prices. Though the movie minted a share of 52.2 Cr, it provided heavy losses to its buyers.

Ram Charan was going through lean phase before release of the film. Many producers waited for this film to observe how it will face demonetization. Despite many odds, Dhruva raked around Rs 51 crores share till date is still running in cinemas with decent collections. As per trade experts, this movie would end as an above average grosser.
7. Soggade Chinni Nayana
Akkineni family didn’t even have 40 cr. Film. Akkineni family entertainer Manam, which got extreme positive response, had collected around Rs 35 crores. Soggade Chinni Nayana is the first 40 cr grosser for Nagarjuna. The Kalyan Krishna directed film minted a worldwide share of Rs 47.6 Cr for full run missed magic figure of 50 Cr marginally.
8. A Aa
Director Trivikram Srinivas spent huge budget on the film. Nithin was a medium range hero. However, A Aa performed exceptionally well in all centers. The film amassed a share of 47.48 Cr worldwide. Overall, A Aa is a super hit.
9. Brahmotsavam
Superstar Mahesh Babu was in full swing and his previous film Srimanthudu crossed Rs 100 cr mark. Expectations were quite high on Brahmotsavam. Nonetheless, director Srikanth Addala disappointed utterly by picking an outdated and unpleasing subject. The film box office business ended at Rs 35.47 Cr. It’s one of the biggest disasters of 2016.
