How Gautamiputra Satakarni Happened?

on Dec 26, 2016

Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much awaited 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni will have its audio launch event today in Tirupati. The film slated to release during Sankranthi is the highest budgeted movie in Balakrishna’s career. How actually Gautamiputra Satakarni happened?

Balakrishna wanted his 100th film to be very special. He even thought of roping in his son Mokshagna to play a brief but effective role, if any director comes up with a pleasing story.

Veteran filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao who once made a blockbuster film Aditya 369 with Balakrishna was asked to prepare a story for sequel to the project. Balakrishna said to have given a line story for the project which was titled as Aditya 999. However, when fans and well-wishers suggested to replace the veteran maker with a young and successful director for his prestigious film, Balakrishna shelved Aditya 999.

Boyapati Srinu was in first place in probable list, since the director earlier provided two blockbusters Simha and Legend to Balakrishna. Nonetheless, he was given 2 to 3 months-time to complete script work. Boyapati walked out due to two reasons. One is he had already committed to do a film with young hero Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, the other is he wanted more time for script writing.

Creative director Krishna Vamsi had approached Balakrishna with ‘Raithu’ script. The ‘Legend’ actor was happy with the script, but told the director to wait for some more time. Krishna Vamsi who is currently making Nakshatram with young heroes is likely to direct Balakrishna’s 101st film.

The reason for Balakrishna postponing Raithu was he pleased with a story narrated by talented director Krish. Balayya thought biopic of Gautamiputra Satakarni prepared by the director will be right subject for his 100th film. More importantly, producers promised Balakrishna to invest any budget believing in Krish’s story and also Balakrishna’s business range.

Krish pledged to wrap up GPSK in limited number of days. Keeping his promise, the director completed production part of the historical drama film in just 100 working days. Currently, post production works are happening. So far released posters, teaser and trailer were admired by fans and movie buffs. Gautamiputra Satakarni is expected to be a milestone film in Balakrishna’s career. Let’s wait and see how many records this prestigious venture of Balayya will break at box office, post its arrival to theaters!
