Story :

Ice Cream is a film based on a real life experience where a girl happens to face paranormal episodes at her home and eventually ends up facing dire consequences. In the movie, Tejaswi and her family shift to a new house which is huge and lavish. IN this course, Renu's (Tejaswi) parents go out of town for a wedding and she invites her boyfriend, Vishal (Navdeep) home. He finds a spooky idol placed at the hall and asks Renu what it is. Renu explains that it was placed there by people who were living in that house before on a superstitious belief. Following this, Vishal kicks off the idol and rubbishes the age old myth.

Paranormal activities begin at home and Renu starts seeing ghosts. Her supernatural experiences grow day by day and Vishal keeps convincing her that it is just a dream or her imagination. A strange servant maid, the maid's brother, plumber and an old lady keep the mystery of Ice Cream running. What happens to Renu ? Will she get back to normal ? Is it just her imagination or a real ghost ? Will Vishal her Renu in getting back to normal ? all this forms the storyline of Ice Cream.

Analysis :

Ice Cream is a very noisy horror flick that hardly scares anyone. The ghosts are typically funny and the entire stretch is unorganized and clumpsy. It almost feels like watch a horror documentary and not a movie. A TV show titled 'Fear Files' would be far better than Ice Cream.

Perspective

Performances :

There were only two people in the film who had a scope of performance and they are Navdeep and Tejaswi. Navdeep was sober and boring creating a boring image. On the other hand, Tejaswi was an irritation. Tejaswi wonderfully proved that she is not a heroine material. Her expressions were so artificial that most audience will end up laughing even in an extremely scary scene.

Technical Aspect

Direction :

I still wonder why Ram Gopal Varma is ruining his image by making films of this sort. The image he used to carry, is slowly and steadily fading away. Ice Cream as a film requires a lot of betterment. Shooting a real life experience in a movie format is appreciable. But, there is something called Audience Acceptance which has not been taken into account.

Music :

Background scores were actually unimpressive and there was no scope for songs in Ice Cream. The promotional song was placed in a scene but it was incomplete and made no difference.

Cinematography :

RGV is known for introducing new technology into films. In fact, RGV is considered as the Techie Wizard of TFI. In this movie, flow cam and flow sound technologies were launched and the film was supposed to look different. However, the flow sound made the effects extremely noisy. Flow cam on the other hand covered the entire landscape of the house and actors but failed to appear perfect. This new gadget is supposed to be very economic but I am sure it is not as effective as the regular ones.

Telugu One Perspective

Plus Points :

None

Minus Points :

1. The script and screenplay were a disaster
2. Tejaswi's own voice was used in the film and that is an ultimate blunder.
3. RGV failed to scare the audience.

Bottom Line :

Just because an estblished director gets a lot of people to produce his films, it doesn't mean that a movie like Ice Cream can be made. Watching Ice Cream is a sincere waste of time and money.
