on Jul 14, 2018

Who could forget the songs ` Antha Bhranthi Yenaa Jeevitana Velugintena,’ and `Cheliya Ledhu Chelimi Ledhu’ from the 1953 telugu movie of Devdas. These were the songs that made the movie an ultimate hit and placed it in the list of all time best movies. But have you ever wondered about the singer of those songs. Her name was K. Rani.

Its hard to believe that Rani has sang the above songs at the age of just- 10 years! Not just that, she went on to sing more than 500 songs in various languages such as Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Benali. She is also the first female singer from India to sing in Sinhala. Rani has given her voice to the Simhalese national anthem. However, Rani has abruptly ended her career after getting married. At 75 years of age, Rani has passed away at her daughter’s home in Hyderabad.
