An uninteresting story

Analysis: To describe in simple words, ‘Athanokkade’ + ‘Aparichitudu’ = ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.

Do you remember the movie 'Athanokkade' directed by Surender Reddy with KalyanRam in the lead role? Imagine the hero KalyanRam behaving strangely like Vikram in Aparichitudu. Amar Akbar Anthony cinema will exactly be like this. The only twist is even Ileyana in this movie has the multiple personality disorder.

There are many scenes in the movie that do not make us laugh and does not even have an interesting story. This movie will again make the audience realize that, director Srinu Vaitla is not yet back in form. If at all he would have been in form, forget about the story – he would have surely made us laugh. Except a scene or two, we do not have anything in the movie which will make the audience laugh.

Why did Maitri Movie Makers spend so much for this movie? There of no need for the film to be shot in America. Shooting the movie in India, would have made the same impact. Coming to the music given by S S Thaman, there is not even a single tune which the audience will remember and hum. Background score is also not impressive. Technically also, there is nothing much to talk about.

Performance: Ravi Teja’s performance as Amar will impress the audience. He has performed well. As Akbar and Anthony, he has over acted. While Antony's character is very good, dialogue delivery and voice modulation in Akbar's character are not correct. Ileyana appeared plump. She has dubbed for her character in Telugu for the first time and it sounded irrelevant.

There are many comedians in the movie. But the people who make us laugh are just two. Abhimanyu Singh's performance and dubbing for the role does not have any connection. Villains were all routine. Heroine Laya, whose character did not have any significance performed well.

Finally: Dr. Anthony’s signature dialogue ‘I am Strong. You are Strong. We are all strong. Relax’ will make the audience Relax and just relax throughout the movie. In the theatres, you all should be strong enough else it’s hard.

Rating: 1.5/5
