And finally, the most eagerly awaited film of Thalaiva Rajnikanth has hit the screens. Rajnikanth – A name which is a brand by itself! What if that brand is accompanied with Director Shankar? Movies like ‘Robo’ & ‘Shivaji’ are created. No one can forget the hungama Chitti Robo has created & now 2.0 is Robo’s sequel. In this movie Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar can be seen with Talaiva Rajnikanth. The budget of the movie is 550Crores coupled with Shankar’s 4 years of sheer dedication. All these factors have increased the expectations of Robo 2.0.

Story:
Cellphones suddenly disappear from people’s hands in Chennai and fly up in the air. Police officials go mad since they do not get any evidence. They become helpless as the case cannot be resolved. Now comes Prof. Vasi, and starts investigating the issue. The bird formed with cell phones by then creates a lot of destruction.
In a meeting held with the government officials, Vasikaran proposes to bring back Chitti robo – to fight with the dangerous bird. After a lot of discussions, finally the government approves bringing back Chitti. What did Chitti do then? Why did the cell phones suddenly vanish? Who is Pakshiraja (Akshay Kumar)? What is the relation between cell phone and Pakshiraja? How does the reloaded chitti along with Vasi resolve the problem between Pakshiraja and the people forms the remaining story!
Analysis:
The reason for the success of “Robo” was not only because of visual effects. There are many scenes where audience expect heroism from Rajnikanth. Chitti Robo has done a lot of hungama. There is a good story. But there is nothing of that sort in 2.0!
Director Shankar instead of story & Rajni instead of showing heroism have concentrated only on the visual effects. The strong stories and emotions which are usually seen in Shankar’s movies are missing in this movie. He slightly struggled between showcasing heroism and visual effects.
But he can be greatly applauded for completely utilizing the visual effects and showcasing the heroic fight between Chitti Robo & Pakshiraja. All those scenes are extraordinary. AR Rahman’s background music is marvelous. As far as technology is concerned, this movie is one of its kind.
Each rupee which the Producer has spent on this movie can be seen. All the technical experts have done their job very well. 3D effects are average.

Performance:
Rajnikanth heroism, dialogue delivery, acting & attitude can fully be witnessed in the climax fight. Fans will get a chance to whistle only after the reloaded chitti 2.0 appears in the screen. Till then Rajni’s role is very calm and composed. The main back drop of the cinema is missing punch dialogue from Rajni. Akshay Kumar dominates as Pakshiraja. His old man avatar impresses the audience. No one will mostly remember Emy Jackson as lady robo!
Finally:
As far as pure story is concerned, nothing much is available. Shankar said that the birds are dying due to the radiation, and Shankar said that people should reduce cell usage. And he has conveyed this message as a visual treat for the audience.
Shankar’s imagination and excellent direction has to be saluted for. And Rajni’s acting, fighting and attitude during the last 30 minutes has marveled the audience. Instead of searching for clear logic, we should enjoy the visual magic and the science fiction.
Finally visual wonder action entertainer 2.0 gives the audience a Hollywood movie experience.
