Rawa Pulihora




This is recipe is quite perfect for this Fasting season. It is very easy to cook and tastes good too. This Rawa Pulihora is made out of broken rice called, Rawa. You get rice rawa in every super market.


* Broken Rice 1 cup
* Tamarind Pulp 3 table spoons or as per taste
* Salt as per taste
* Oil 4 to 5 table spoons
For Seasoning:
* Urad Dal 2 table spoons
* Chana Dal 2 table spoons
* Ground Nuts 2 table spoons
* Cumin Seeds 1 teaspoon
* Mustard Seeds 1 table spoon
* Curry Leaves 6- 8
* Green chilies 4- 6
* Red Chilies 2-3
* Turmeric ½ tea spoon
* Hing/ Asafoetida two pinches


* Boil 2 cups of water and add turmeric and oil then stir well.  Now, add Rice Rawa, and cook until the water is evaporated, it just takes 5 minutes to be done. Allow it to cool by spreading on a plate.
* Now, heat oil for Seasoning. Add above mentioned ingredients one after the other and add tamarind pulp to this mix and cook for 2 mins.
* Now, add rice and toss in some salt on the rice and mix well, so that salt and tamarind pulp mixes well with the rice. Allow it to settle.
* Serve hot.
