Sadhvi Pragya's bail plea rejected by NIA court

Sadhvi Pragya, one of the main accused in 2008 Malegoan blast case has been denied bail by the special NIA court on Tuesday. The blasts which took place on the evening of Navratri, had killed at least 7 people and injured around 80 people in Malegaon and Modasa. Citing insufficient evidence, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), had also dropped charges against her under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) last month. A family member of the Sadhvi has said that they will approach the high court against the Special NIA court order.

The probe which was initially conducted by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad was later handed over to the NIA. Lt Col Shrikant Purohit along with 14 others were listed as accused in connection with the case in Nov 2008. Seven people died when two bombs planted on a motorcycle exploded that day.
