Pakistan gets ready to play in India

Day after day, the decisions of Pakistan on whether to play in India or not, looked like a roller coaster. After a long display of Yes and No alternatively, the Pakistan Cricket Board has at last gave its nod. Pakistan was initially hesitant to participate in ICC World T20 being played in India. A statement by the Himachal Pradesh CM that he can’t assure the security of Pak players has made things worse. The Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear that it won’t send its team, unless they receive a written assurance on the safety of their players from the Indian counterparts.

After prolonged talks that included who’s who of the diplomats such as Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, Indian Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi... Pak has at last given a go ahead for their team. The only change being that they would play in Kolkata instead of Dhamasala (Himachal Pradesh). Though the Indian government has not officially said anything, it has now become an open secret that India has indeed given a written assurance to ICC, regarding the safety of Pak cricketers. Such an act of government might infuse fresh debates. Let's watch.
