Foreign educated docs fail India test

Statistics show students with medical degrees from these countries are finding it increasingly difficult to pass the screening test that allows them to practice in India. The number of students taking the test has doubled but the pass percentage dropped from 50.12 in 2005 to 10.7 in 2015. According to the Indian Medical Council Act, 2001, citizens with undergraduate degrees from outside India should clear the screening test conducted twice every year- June and December- before they do a one-year internship in one of the MCI recognized medical colleges. One has to score 50 per cent to clear the test.
