Election schedule for 5 states announced

 

The Chief Election Commissioner VN Sampath has announced the elections schedule for the five states Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram on Friday. Elections in Chhattisgarh state will be held in two phases and in rest of the four states in single phase. The election code of conduct will come into effect in these five poll bound states.

Notification for elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram will be issued on October 18th and for Delhi on November 9th.

Polling schedule:

Chattisgarh- November 11th and 19th.

Madhya Pradesh-November-25th.

Rajasthan-December 1st.

Mizoram-December 4th.

Delhi-December 4th.

Counting of votes and announcement of results: December 8th.

 

Around 11 crore voters in five districts will elect their representatives in these elections. Following the Supreme Court’s directions, for the first time EC is providing reject button in the EVMs in these elections. Hence voters will have the choice to reject all the contestants with one press of button, if they believe none of them are worth electing.
