AP will get New Railway Zone soon: Sadananda Gowda

Union Railways Minister DV Sadananda Gowda speaking to media at Secunderabad yesterday said “New Railway zone to Andhra Pradesh state is in our top priority list. It may be granted any time after October 14th that is when the committee formed for it will table its report. I am also waiting for its report. I assure there will be no delay on my part in this matter. As soon as I receive the committee report, I will quickly forward it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approval.”

Railways Minister also elaborates about his government’s policy in allowing Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in Railways. “Since it is taking too long to complete any project on government funding, we have decide to allow FDIs in Railways also, but they will be confined for development of new railway lines, introducing of speed trains and bullet trains. FDIs will not be allowed in operations and existing railway services. “We have developed a new procedure, call it model concession agreement for executing its projects under public-private-partnership (PPP) mode. This is a framework of contract between two that sets the terms for incentives and targets for the private players,” he said.
