Using Small-spaces for Gardening

Small spaces can also be extended to gardens, apartment balconies can be changed into a green retreat. If there is not  much ground space, you can even think of the walls. Here's how one can do it, effectively.

Start with a good fertile soil: These days good quality soil is not available everywhere, and in countries like USA, one can only buy it. In India, quality soil is sold at Farmer's markets and Nursery exhibitions. Improve the native soil by mixing in a rich moisture control soil that does not allow decays to happen and that which locks water in during summer days.

Allow more Sun light: Before you start planting the seeds or setting up fixed planters, observe where the sun hits more in your space, morning and afternoon, and then plant your saplings there. the ones that need more sun in the afternoon-sun zone and the ones which need just enough sun light, in the morning-sun zone.

Grow them together: You can mix and match the vegetable and flowering plants, mixing the different colored ones too. Together they make even the smallest gardening space, very lush.

Water and fertilize regularly: Especially during summer months, watering plants every morning or  after sun-down is good. Watering can be reduced a little in the colder months, accordingly. Ample fertilizing and making sure there are no pests and mosquito breeding allows a healthy garden and surrounding for your family too.
