Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Madhavan Sangeetha, Ramesh Arvind, Urvashi, Turais Usha Uthup, Surya (Guest Appearance) and Others.....
Madan Gopal (Madhavan) is fabulously rich and is in love with a popular cine star Ambu (Trisha). Though Madan loves her very much, but is also suspicious of her fidelity. Along with his parents Madan once goes to Kodaikanal, where Ambu is participating in a film shoot. There his suspicion on Ambu gets increased with the incidents like Ambu and the hero of the film getting into the caravan together for dress changing. While coming back from Kodaikanal, Madan and Ambu start arguing about this, which eventually leads to an accident. After this incident, Ambu goes to one of her friends Deepa (Sangeetha) in Europe. Madan sends an ex-serviceman Major R. Bhushanam (Kamal Haasan) to keep an eye on Ambu in Europe. Major's friend (Ramesh Arvind) is suffering from cancer. Major has accepted Madan's assignment only for the money he required for Arvind's treatment. Major doesn't give true report about Ambu in Europe to Madan fearing that if he tells the truth, Madan may call him back to India and even try to avoid paying him. As he needed the money badly for his friend's treatment, Major lies to Madan that Ambu is moving closely with someone else there. In fact, Major's wife has died in the same accident caused by Madan and Ambu while returning from Kodaikanal. Did Major's friend get well... whether Madan married Ambu..? To know the answers, one has has to invariably see the movie.
Analysis: There have been hit films like "Panchtanthram" and "Dasavatharam" in Kamal-KS Ravikumar's combination in the past. But this movie can not be compared with them in any aspect. Only if you wish to see beautiful sights of Europe and Venice, you can see this movie. As regarding Kamal's performance, there is nothing new to say, he always excels in any kind of a role. Coming to Trisha, her face is gradually losing its lustre, which is clearly visible in this movie. Sangeetha aptly looks like a mother of two kids. Madhavan has nothing much to do in the movie except drinking. Without the presence of Madhavan's parents, a Kerala film producer and his wife Usha Uthup, this flick would have remained the same. Its second half seems to be a bit better than the first one.
Music: Just average. Re-recording is not bad. Camera: Camera work is good. It succeeded in capturing beauty of Europe very well. Dialogues: Are also of an average standards. Lyrics: 'Neelakaasham...' song is good. Editing: Superb in 'neelakaasham' song. Showing the entire song in reverse is a new kind of experience to the audience. Choreography: It's too, just average. Action: can be termed O.K.
"If you go to the theater thinking it's Kamal's movie, you'll be caught unawares. Just to see the beautiful sights of Europe, you can watch this movie."
